BIOGRAPHY
Joan Dreyer resides in New Jersey. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Montclair State
University (NJ) in 2002, and her Master of FIne Arts Degree from Tyler School of Art/Temple University (PA)
in Spring of 2008. Ms. Dreyer is married and has two adult children.
Themes examined by the artist include adundance, grief, patriotism and propaganda. Her most recent body of work titled "Home Front", adresses current societal unease related to our national military interests abroad. With her
background in fibers and textiles, the artist often employs "the stitch" in creating art. Recent work combines thread,
dental xrays and MRI films as materials. Past work includes various surface design processes on cloth. The artist uses both hi-tech and traditional tools -hand stitching with needles and thread merges with digital photography and printing. Dreyer's work takes many forms; from freestanding three dimensional forms to wall pieces.
The artist has work in the collection of the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, MA.
